Start a free photo gallery

One of the best ways to improve your photography is to share your images with other photographers in free online photo galleries. Its often in these communities where you'll learn the most, as you bounce idea's off each other to help improve your technical skills. As you can see from the list below, there are many photo galleries to choose from.

  1. Digital Camera Magazine Community

Digital Camera UK offers web site visitors a free photo gallery where you can submit your own photos or comment on other photographers images. It's also a fantastic way to get your images seen. The Digital Camera team regularly searches through member images and picks the best photos to showcase as Photograph of the Day on the front page of their web site.

Similar to the gallery listed above, you'll also have a chance of scoring one of your photographs on the front page of their web site, or chosen as an editors favorite.

  7. Picasa

Picasa is a popular gallery from Google. Not only do you get your own photo gallery, but you also have free editing tools on hand with their fabulous software. Last time I looked, you couldn't add an outside link back to your web site (if you have one), which many photographers find useful for obvious promotion reasons. However, if you're simply after a gallery from which to display your images to family and friends, then Picasa may be the place for you.

If you have a Hotmail, Messenger, or Xbox LIVE account, then you already have a Windows Live ID. You can also download some free software called Photo Gallery which makes it easier to upload, organize, edit and share your photographs.
