About SLR Photography Guide
Welcome to SLR Photography Guide, a website dedicated to helping amateur photographers better understand their SLR / DSLR cameras.
Originally this guide started off as a photography category in a website design blog over at Hypergurl. It soon became apparent that while it's important for all website developers to use their own images in their designs, not all photographers were creating websites. Therefore the photography theme needed a website of its own and slrphotographyguide.com was born.
My name is Tanya Puntti and I'm the person behind SLR Photography Guide. My interest in DSLR photography started with a university course called Contemporary Photomedia, taken as part of my Information Technology degree. After achieving a high distinction, I now consider myself a SLR photography enthusiast who enjoys sharing what I've learned so far with other amateur photographers. In addition to this website, I also do regular photo shoots for an Australian travel company called Fun Tours.
While it's true that I often refer to Canon 400D EOS and Nikon D40 throughout this guide, this is only because those are the camera brands I am personally familiar with. However, I believe the information found in this photography guide will help all DSLR users. While there are many different SLR models available, most of the settings work basically the same.
SLR Photography Guide is regularly updated, so it is recommended that you follow it over time. One of the best ways to do this is to add the sitemap to your browser favorites so you can see what has been recently added.
What's in store for the future
Plans for the future include adding a message forum to the site, where we will be running photography competitions for members. Monthly winners will receive prizes and gift vouchers. It's also our hope that members themselves will offer advice and help others become better photographers along the way.
We'll also be adding a series of guest case studies to ensure this guide offers advice from a wide range of personal experiences, so it's not limited only to my own.
I hope you find SLR Photography Guide useful in helping you better understand your digital camera.
